System administration in Ghent, from across the canal
The Ghent-Terneuzen Canal links your city to our head office. Infodatek Group manages the complete IT environment of SMEs in and around the city, from server and firewall to backup and cloud. Proactively, with one fixed contact and with an eye on NIS2.
Ghent is a city of knowledge, trade and industry. Young knowledge-based companies grow up around the university and the colleges, lawyers, accountants and architects work in the city centre, and along the canal there are businesses that keep the port running. For all these SMEs we handle system administration: we watch over servers and network, install updates, handle backup and recovery and deal with your suppliers. Already have your own IT person? Then we work alongside them. Your environment stays stable and secure, and you can focus on your business.

One port
From Ghent to Terneuzen: one port, one canal
Since the ports of Ghent, Terneuzen and Vlissingen joined forces as North Sea Port, the border along the canal has become little more than a line on the map for many businesses. Our head office in Terneuzen sits on the same water as the port here. So to us, the city does not feel like another country, but like the other half of our own region.
You notice that in how we work together. We know how businesses in the port region operate: with branches on both sides of the border, suppliers from Belgium and the Netherlands, and colleagues who drive up and down along the canal every day.
What we do
System administration in Ghent: what we handle for you
System administration covers everything behind the scenes of your business: the server or cloud environment, the office network, the firewall, the backup and the agreements with your software suppliers. We manage all of it as one coherent whole, with monitoring that spots anomalies early.
Do you mainly work in Microsoft 365, or would you rather do away with the server in the storeroom? Then we find the best mix together. With ANYBASE, our private cloud, your data is stored in the European Union, in a data centre that is Tier 3 designed. You can always extend it with Microsoft Azure.
Servers, storage and cloud environments maintained
Firewall, switches and Wi-Fi in the office
Backups we regularly restore as a test
Updates and patches at fixed times
One point of contact for your software suppliers
Information security
NIS2 and information security for SMEs in Ghent
NIS2 applies in Belgium too. For medium-sized and large organisations in sectors such as transport, energy, manufacturing and healthcare, the directive brings clear obligations around security and incident reporting. Smaller companies often encounter it because their customers set requirements for the whole chain. With Smart Compliance we work out which rules apply to you and tackle them together in manageable steps.
Our ISO 27001 and NEN 7510 certification shows how carefully we handle information. Security is a fixed part of everyday management, and for more depth you can count on Cybersecurity management and audits.
How we work
How the partnership works
The first step is an introductory conversation, at your office or via Teams. We then take stock of your environment and capture it all in documentation that remains yours. From then on we manage proactively, mostly remotely.
If someone needs to come on site, we arrange it in advance, including in the largely car-free city centre. We sit down regularly for a strategy meeting. Digital Care, our own platform, bundles everything into one agreement at a fixed price per employee.
Sectors
For the SMEs that give the city its character
The city runs on its port, the knowledge around the university and a lively centre. Each sector asks something different of system administration.
Port, logistics and supply
Freight forwarders, hauliers and technical suppliers work along the canal and in the port. They rely on planning software, links with customers and often several locations. We keep those systems working together reliably, across the border when needed.
Knowledge companies and spin-offs
Around the university, companies emerge that thrive on research and data. They need computing power, secure storage and clear access rights, and they often grow at a brisk pace. We build an environment that keeps up and never gets in the way.
Professional services
Lawyers, notaries, accountants and architects work with confidential files and large documents. We set up their environment so the right people can reach the right files, and so backup and recovery are demonstrably in order.
Healthcare and wellbeing
Practices, home care organisations and social services process sensitive data about patients and clients. Our NEN 7510 certification matches that responsibility, while proactive management keeps systems stable for everyone who relies on them.
Service area
System administration in Ghent and the surrounding area
Ghent lies where the Scheldt and the Lys meet, at the junction of the E40 and the E17. The R4 ring road circles the city, and the canal runs north past the port to Zelzate, the border and on to Terneuzen.
From Terneuzen we work for SMEs in the city centre, in the districts and on the business parks along the ring road and the canal. Think of Sint-Amandsberg, Oostakker and Wondelgem, as well as neighbouring municipalities such as Evergem, Zelzate, Merelbeke and Destelbergen. We handle a lot remotely, and we visit for meetings or installations.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about system administration in Ghent
You are a Dutch company. Do you also work for Belgian SMEs?
Yes. We are active across the Benelux and now work for more than five hundred organisations, from small SMEs to companies with a few hundred employees. Our head office in Terneuzen is on the same canal as the port, and we speak the same language. We tailor agreements, documentation and reports to your organisation, whichever side of the border it is on.
Where is our data stored if we move to your cloud?
In ANYBASE, our own private cloud, your data is stored in a data centre in the European Union. If you want to combine it with Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365, that is possible too. Together we look at which data fits best where, and note those choices in your documentation, so you always know where everything is.
We have a branch in Ghent and one in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Can both be managed as one?
Certainly. Many companies in the port region work on both sides of the border. We manage both branches as one environment, with the same agreements, the same security and one contact person. The offices are linked by a secure connection, so your people on both sides work with the same systems and files.
Do you also come to our premises?
When needed, yes. Day-to-day work, such as monitoring and updates, is done remotely. For an introduction, new equipment, an office move or the strategy meeting, a colleague from Terneuzen drives along the canal to see you. Because the city centre is largely car-free, we agree the time and place carefully in advance.
