IT for construction and installation

IT for construction and installation, from office to site

Your people work on site, in the van and at customers' homes, and need their drawings, planning and job sheets wherever they are. We manage the IT of construction and installation firms proactively, with a dedicated contact who understands how a project runs. Your team builds and installs, and we take care of the technology.

Working in projects

Most of the work happens outside the office

In construction and building services, only a small part of the team sits in the office. Project managers, site managers, engineers and planners work from changing locations, with a laptop in the site cabin or a tablet in the van. They need the latest version of a drawing, tomorrow's planning and a job sheet they can complete on the spot. At the same time you work with subcontractors, consultants and clients who need access to certain files too. Infodatek Group sets up your IT for exactly that: an environment that works anywhere, stays secure when a device goes missing and grows with every new project.

  • Drawings, planning and project folders securely available at every location
  • Laptops, tablets and phones of your field staff managed centrally
  • Temporary access for subcontractors and partners, neatly arranged
  • Internet on site and security that moves with your projects

What the industry deals with

What construction and installation firms need from their IT

A construction company works in projects, and every project has its own team, location and partners. Today a site manager is on a building site in town, next month on a job in a village where mobile coverage is weaker. Meanwhile the files keep growing: drawings, 3D models, progress photos, agreements on extra work and handover files.

In building services, a lot revolves around the service department. Engineers drive from customer to customer, with a schedule that changes during the day. They want to fill in and close their job sheet on the tablet, so the invoice can go out the same day. That calls for IT that works as well on the road as in the office, and for someone who keeps an eye on the whole picture.

Who it is for

Which construction businesses do we work for?

We work for construction and installation firms in Zeeland, West Brabant, the Utrecht region and beyond, from SMEs to companies with several hundred employees. A few examples.

Contractors and builders

From housing to commercial building and renovation. Site managers and project managers work from the cabin with drawings and schedules that keep changing. We make sure everyone has the right version, and that the project environment is archived neatly after handover.

Installation companies

Electrical, mechanical, climate and plumbing. Service engineers work with job sheets on the tablet and a schedule that can change by the hour. We keep their devices, the job sheet app and the connection with the office reliable.

Civil engineering and groundworks

Civil engineering firms work on large and often remote projects, with machinery and surveying equipment that produce more and more data. We provide connectivity on location and a secure environment in which to store and share that data.

Engineering and consultancy firms

Structural engineers, building services consultants and technical draughtspeople work with heavy drawing software and large models. We provide workstations that can handle it, and storage and backup with room enough for all those files.

Maintenance and property services

Companies that carry out maintenance for housing associations and property owners plan many small jobs at many addresses. We manage the planning, the tradespeople's phones and the exchange of work orders with the client.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about IT in construction and installation

How do we get good internet on the building site?

Usually with a mobile router in the site cabin, with an antenna that suits the coverage at that spot. We connect wifi for your own people to it, plus a separate network for visitors. We manage that connection remotely, so we see when it drops out. For every new project we set everything up the same way, so your team can get started straight away.

An engineer has lost their tablet. What now?

Then you let us know. Because we manage the devices centrally, we can lock or wipe the tablet remotely. The job sheets and files are in the cloud and not only on the device, so nothing is lost. The engineer gets a replacement device that we set up remotely, so they can get back on the road quickly.

Can subcontractors reach our project folders without access to everything?

Yes. We set up an environment per project where you share files with the people working on it, even if they are not on your payroll. That access is limited to that one project and expires when it is finished, or earlier if you prefer. Collaboration stays easy, while your estimates, quotes and personnel data remain shielded.

Do we have to switch to other software for projects and job sheets?

No. Your estimating software, project administration and job sheet app stay as they are. We manage the environment around them and coordinate updates with your suppliers. If we spot an opportunity, such as an integration that avoids entering data twice or an old server that could move to the cloud, we put it to you. You decide what happens and at what pace.

Do you also work for construction firms outside Zeeland?

Yes. We work from Terneuzen (Zeeland) and Vianen (Utrecht), for more than 500 organisations across the Benelux. Most management is done remotely, and that works just as well for a site manager in Utrecht as for an engineer in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. If someone is needed at the office or on a project, we come over.

Will your site manager have the right drawing at hand tomorrow?

In half an hour we look at how the office, the building site and the van are connected.
